I liked Aslan’s role in The Horse and His Boy because he never directly affected Shasta’s life, but was more of a protector of him. I think my favorite part of the book was when Shasta was waiting for the others by the tombstones and met Aslan but didn’t know it was him. It was nice how Aslan kept Shasta company through out the night and protected him without Shasta understanding that he was in the company of the great Aslan. The part of the book where Shasta was traveling alone at night was another part of the book that stood out to me. Aslan’s interaction with Shasta made the book seem more deep than it had originally seemed. It was at that point where Shasta realized how much of an impact Aslan had on his life when before it seemed like he had nothing to do with it at all. It was nice to think that Aslan was walking along Shasta that night to try and keep him from falling off the edge of the trail. It shows that through Aslan’s actions that he is a protector which makes him resemble God even more so. It is believed that God protects those who need help and looks after those who follow and believe in him. The book showed Aslan’s caring side which was nice. God will help guide people to where they are supposed to be, but not exactly fully take the reigns and guide them.
